Brazil Culture & Arts Technology Outreach Program

Dear friends,

I know a lot of you are looking for opportunities to give away stuff you may not be able to take with you as we approach the summer. To that end, I wanted to let you know about a new project in Brazil that would greatly benefit from you technology donations. If you have any computers, old screens, printers, peripherals, software or computer related books that you don't want to take with you, please contact Mestre Beicola.

Mestre Beicola has Capoeira students here at Stanford, across the Bay, in Japan and even Hawaii. He has brought Capoeira together with social justice and service learning to many of the communities he has worked with and continues to do so in Brazil. This summer Mestre Beicola is starting an exciting centre for cultural and educational exchange in Rio with the vision of engaging the host community and his visiting students, (including some Stanford students), in a rare and wonderful opportunity to share skills and gifts across different contexts. Those of his students going to Brazil with him this summer will be able to exchange their skills in computers, dance, English or music for lessons in Portuguese, percussion, dance and Capoeira from local community members. Please contact him directly for more information or visit the web page http://www.brazilca.com/tours.html

Wishing you all a great summer,
Thaala
